SCAM NEWS: Toronto Canada Police Arrest $291,000 Romance Scammer

Toronto Police have charged Kaosiso Ezibe, 24, of Vaughan, with fraud in the $291,000 fleecing of another woman, 60, in an online romance scam during February and March. The curious details include a relationship in which the two never met face-to-face but the fraudster was portrayed as a “wealthy architect”. The police release does not specify if the imposter presented herself as a man or a woman. For those wishing to know the answer, the question hangs heavy over the case. Police do say that the two spoke on the phone. The arrest occurred on Wednesday and police say they have evidence indicating more victims. In any case, Ms Ezibe faces charges of fraud, laundering the proceeds of crime and possession of the proceeds of crime. She was scheduled to appear in court at College Park, on Friday, July 26, 2019, at 9:30 a.m, room 507.

How Do You Properly Report Scammers?

It is essential that law enforcement knows about scams & scammers, even though there is nothing (in most cases) that they can do.

Always report scams involving money lost or where you received money to:

  1. Local Police – ask them to take an “informational” police report – say you need it for your insurance
  2. Your National Police or FBI «www.IC3.gov»
  3. The Scars Worldwide Reporting Network «HERE» or on «www.Anyscam.com»

This helps your government understand the problem, and allows law enforcement to add scammers on watch lists worldwide.
